Understanding Superbills

If you would like to use your out of network insurance benefits, let me know! I can provide you with an itemized receipt called a "superbill" to submit directly to your insurance for reimbursement. Often, plans will reimburse for my services at the "out-of-network" provider rate. This can actually be a pretty high reimbursement for some plans. The best thing you can do is call and ask your insurance company how much they will reimburse. Each insurance plan offers different benefits so please check your specific coverage for details. Here are some good questions to ask your insurance provider:

• What are my out-of-network mental health benefits for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker?

• Is there a deductible that needs to be met first?

• Do I need a referral from my primary care provider?

• How many sessions are covered per calendar year?

• Are there any restrictions in place?

It's important to note that if we do use your insurance for reimbursement, I will need to use a diagnosis code. Some people prefer not to use insurance so that a diagnosis code will not be shared with their insurance company.
